Privacy policy

This page explains what information the Debre Haile Kidus Raguel Cathedral website (kidusraguel.org) keeps, why, and who can see it. The public pages can be read without signing in. The member portals (Sunday school students, teachers and parents) need a sign-in.

What we keep

• Registration details that a family or teacher gives when signing up: name, Christian name, date of birth, gender, phone numbers, parent or guardian name, and the classes chosen.
• Sign-in details. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's name and verified email address, and use them only to find your account. If you sign in with Telegram, we receive your Telegram account number, name, username and, if you choose to share it with our bot, your phone number.
• Sunday school records created by teachers: attendance, grades, test and game results, and course materials.
• Messages sent in class chats and between parents and the church office. Messages from parents are stored encrypted.
• Security records: the time, portal and network address of sign-in attempts, kept to stop people guessing passwords.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or share your information with advertisers or anyone outside the church.
• We do not use your information for advertising, and the website has no advertising or tracking cookies.
• We do not read your Google contacts, files or email. We ask Google only for your basic profile and email address.

Who can see it

Students see their own classes and records. Parents see their own children's records. Teachers see the classes they teach. Church administrators who run the Sunday school can see registration details and records so they can manage classes. The website is hosted on a private server in the United States, reached only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

Other services the site uses

Signing in with Google or Telegram is handled by those services under their own privacy policies. Videos on the Live and Teachings pages are played from YouTube.

How long we keep it

Records are kept while a person is part of the Sunday school. When a family or teacher asks, the church office removes their account and records, except where we must keep something for the church's safety or legal duties.

Children

Children are registered by, or with the knowledge of, a parent or guardian, who can see the child's records in the parent portal and ask for them to be corrected or removed.
